Inspired by hojalata, a traditional tin embossing practice found throughout Latin American folk art, this workshop explores a hands-on way to emboss metal using everyday materials.
The process is adapted using aluminum foil to make it accessible, portable, and easy to continue at home. So slow down, work with your hands, and embrace the imperfections. They are what give each piece its character.
Materials
Heavy-duty aluminum foil sheet, 36 gauge recommended
Soft surface such as thick cardboard, mouse pad, foam, or felt pad
Ballpoint pen (no gel), dull pencil, or wooden skewer
Paper and pencil for sketching or printed outline template
